Scholarships

Awarded to a student proceeding to Second Year of either Mineral Engineering or Materials Engineering on the basis of financial need and academic standing.

Awarded to a UTM student enrolled in an anthropology program. The student should have a record of social activism and is required to write an essay on “the importance of non-violence in International students relations and world peace”. It will be submitted to the Chair of the department who will review the applications with a committee and make the final selection. The student must have demonstrated financial need in accordance with university guidelines.

Awarded to an undergraduate U of T Mississauga (UTM) student in their final year who is applying to medical school in Canada. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need and is given preferentially to students applying to the Undergraduate Medical Education Program at the University of Toronto. Second preference is given to students entering a graduate program in a health science, or science discipline with a health application, at the University of Toronto. This award is payable, upon proof of registration in the appropriate program, in the September following graduation.

Awarded to a member of the graduating class who has completed a Specialist programme in Chemistry and achieved the highest standing in the final year.

Awarded to one or more students enrolled in a program offered by the Department of Sociology after second or third year of study. Financial need must be considered, academic merit will also be considered.

Awarded to one or more UTM students enrolled in SOC382H and participating in study abroad / field trip opportunities. Registration with the UTM International students Education Centre is mandatory.

Awarded to one or more UTM students enrolled in SOC485H and participating in study abroad / field trip opportunities. Registration with the UTM International students Education Centre is mandatory.

Awarded to three Full time students in Industrial Engineering, with preference going to students who demonstrate an interest in business and/or entrepreneurship based on course selection and/or extra-curricular activities such as, but not limited to, the Hatchery or participation in external start-ups.

This award was established by Mrs. Roxy Somborac, the widow of Dr. Stephen Somborac, Class of 1959, and the mother of Dr. Milan Somborac, Class of 1964, in their honour. The monetary award will be given to the student entering First Year of the D.D.S., program who shows outstanding academic ability based upon admission documents. Not tenable with other admission scholarships. First awarded in 1991.

This award is disbursed as part of the University of Toronto Financial Aid (UTAPS program). To be awarded to (a) Full time, undergraduate student(s) in the Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto on the basis of financial need.
